Zoucha, a Redwood City divorce mediation attorney. I am an experienced Superior Court Judge Pro Tem and court-appointed arbitrator frequently used by the Superior Court in California. Other lawyers often contact me to mediate their alternative dispute resolution cases. Two Convenient LocationsI represent clients throughout the San Francisco, California area, including the nine-county Bay Area. I have a main office in Redwood City, serving residents of San Mateo, Menlo Park, Atherton, Belmont, San Carlos and surrounding communities, as well as a satellite office across the bay in Walnut Creek for people in Oakland, Hayward, Fremont, San Jose and the East Bay area. Why Mediation or Arbitration?
Many legal issues can be mediated, including divorce, custody, personal injury, contract disputes between businesses, customer disputes, and neighbor disputes. What Is Mediation? In mediation, I act as a neutral third party to help both parties come to an agreement. Mediation is not binding, but it is a very cost-effective alternative that reduces the animosity of negotiations. In arbitration, I also act as a neutral third party, but I act essentially as a judge and the two sides agree beforehand (in writing) to accept my decision. A mediated or arbitrated agreement must be submitted to the court for approval, but in many cases you do not have to appear in a courtroom. One Divorce Mediation Success StoryA middle-aged couple, both Silicon Valley executives with millions of dollars of combined assets, came to me for mediation of their divorce. It was a second marriage for both, and they didn’t want to give tens of thousands of dollars to attorneys in an expensive, drawn-out divorce battle. From start to finish, including filing the divorce petition and signing the divorce agreement, I resolved their case in just three days at a cost to them of $3,000. That couple was smart. They realized that they could fight it out, or they could bypass the egos and emotions that make many divorces bitter and expensive. If you are committed to working out a fair settlement, mediation usually works out better for all parties.
